Between Your Mind and Tongue

(pretty great guys)
(newish band)
(music and interview)

1. Insight behind the name?

The name derives from all the things you think throughout the day but never say due to fear of consqequence that comes with simply telling the truth.(or acting upon natural feelingss) Making life a constant balancing act between your mind and tongue.

2. When did you guys start up?

We've only been a band for about 4 months now. Although Fez, Giancarlo and I have played in bands together previously to this.

3. Do you play lots of shows? or plan to tour?

We've been getting asked to play allot of great shows recently and we feel truly honered. For example were playing with Empire! Empire! (i was a lonely estate), One Hundred Year Ocean, Figure/Ground and Dads Jan 21st in Robbinsville (NJ). Which is going to be a blast! Also we're playing an awesome music festival in Montclair called Good Clean American Fun Fest on Jan 9th that our friend Anthony and I (Casey) our running. It's set up to promote diversity within our New Jersey scene as well as incorperating art and food from local artists, bakers and cooks.

We're currentlty working out the details for a short tour in March and then this summer we will be doing a more extensive tour of the east coast and some other midwestern states as well.

Always looking for people to help us out. If any one reads this and is interested in booking us just drop us an email! We really appricaite it!

4. When will there be new music? Is the writing process always flowing?

We cant wait to put out these new songs we've written over the last two months, we're really proud of them! (And there also the first songs with our new drummer Dan.) They will be released in about month for our split with BLK OUT from Ohio which like our E.P will be out on cassette and free digital download.

The writting process is always flowing, there isnt a practice that goes by where were not working on new material.

5. What are you influences or goals you want to accomplish with your music?

Lyrically our influences draw from the flaws of being human.

Musically we're most influenced by screamo, hardcore and mathy indie type of stuff.

Our goal is to just reach out to people and hopefully connect with them through our lyrics and music.

6. I only have one record from you guys, I think thats all you have recorded, but is the band still going strong?

We released our E.P " I Set Myself On Fire" on November 1st. This E.P consists of the first six songs we wrote together as a band which we released on cassette and for free on our bandcamp. We're completley blown away by the reception it has recieved and the amount of people who have downloaded it/purchased our tape, Thank you guys so much!

As I said the new songs will be the first released with our new drummer Dan, who has helped us make the band stronger then ever.

 7. Tell us what you wanted to do with your music.

Ultimatley we just want to make records, play basements, go on tours and make a bunch of new freindships along the way.
